1. The increasing use of chemicals in all sectors of society (including home) has resulted in many wastes that have hazardous properties. In the past UNEP has focussed on improving the information available to specialists in government and private sectors in this field. The work has been carried out in collaboration with a variety of other organisations and experts, especially the International Solid Waste Association (ISWA) and the Secretariat of the Basel Convention.
