English For the seventh time, the International Poster Biennial in Mexico presented a program that enriched the discussion and exchange of opinions around one of the most important arts found at the beginning of this century. This event, recognized for its great vitality and numberless proposals directed to design artists, presented several activities in different Mexican cities, Mexico City and San Luis Potosi among the most important. By organizing international poster contests, programs to divulge the design culture, workshops and seminars where the great masters share their knowledge with the new generations of designers, the Biennial in Mexico, as it is known abroad, has been able to consolidate a true graphic design university. The Biennial has also been able to maintain a balance that allows the participation of our cultural institutions, cultural foundations, international organizations and sponsor enterprises in order to reach the public who believe that this participation is essential for the development of design. On this occasion, the Biennial invited us to meditate on the future of the relationship between man and his environment and, in conjunction with the United Nations, it selected 50 works presented by the participants, within the unpublished work category, to form a poster collection that, as from 2003, will be exhibited under the name The Rights of Nature in different locations in Mexico and abroad. As this time the Biennial in Mexico invited Poland as the guest country, we were very pleased to welcome several outstanding Polish designers who showed us their work which, no doubt, has revolutionized the expression and communication possibilities of contemporary posters. The Biennial
wishes to express its gratitude to the host institutions in Mexico, to
the sponsors and to the artists who have accepted the invitation to participate
in this relevant cultural event.
