The
(World
Conservation Monitoring Centre, WCMC) based in Cambridge, the United Kingdom, is the world's preeminent authority on biodiversity information.
WCMC was established ten years ago by UNEP, the World Conservation Union (IUCN) and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). With the agreement of IUCN and the encouragement of the Government of the United Kingdom, WCMC is now a UNEP World Centre for Biodiversity Monitoring and Assessment. It forms part of an interlinked network of designated centres throughout the world, which are implementing UNEP's global strategy for environmental monitoring, assessment and early warning.

The Environmental Management Group

The Environmental Management Group (EMG) established by the United Nations General Assembly at its fifty-third session is chaired by the Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme, who reports directly to the UN Secretary-General. The EMG focuses on environment and human settlement issues, in the context of linkages between environment and development. The most important goal of the EMG is to achieve effective coordination and joint action in key areas of environmental and human settlements concern.
