The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP)
Sasakawa Environment Prize
The UNEP Sasakawa Environment Prize is awarded annually to leading environmentalists and recognizes the work of these individuals at the global level. The annual award of US$50,000.00 was increased to US$200,000.00 in 1990, making it one of the world's most valuable environmental prizes.

The European Better Environment Awards (EBEAFI)
The European Better Environment Awards for Industry (EBEAFI) is a biennial award scheme held under the patronage of the European Commission and co-sponsored by the United Nations Environment Programme.
Global Business Award
A global business award for environmental achievement could be organized in 2000 by the International Chamber of Commerce, under the patronage of UNEP, to recognize, award and highlight outstanding environmental achievements by companies operating in the developing world and economies in transition.
Global 500
To encourage individuals and community action in defense of the environment, the United Nations Environment Programme launched the Global 500 Roll of Honour in 1987. The Award is granted every year to individuals and organizations for outstanding achievements in the protection and improvement of the environment. The Award, which was initially to last five years, has grown in prestige, attracting worldwide public and political attention and support. Since its inception, 634 individuals and organizations worldwide have received the Global 500 Award in the adult category.
Youth Environment Award
UNEP launched its Global 500 Youth Environmental Award during the World Environment Day celebrations held during the united Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in June 1992. The Award is intended to recognize the contribution made by young people who have distinguished themselves in the field of environmental protection. Since 1993, the first year of the Award, 36 individuals and organizations have received the Global 500 Award in the youth category.
Ozone Award
UNEP's Global Ozone Award is presented to individuals and organizations active in the four categories of science (vital for understanding the causes of ozone depletion and providing a sound basis for international action), technology (the source of viable alternatives to ozone-depleting substances) policy and implementation (which leads to public support and international cooperation), and non-governmental organizations (which help to rise awareness and catalyse solutions).
